Pandit Ravi Shankar, KBE was one of the best-known proponents of sitar in the 20th century and influenced many musicians throughout the world. Honouring his memory with a two-day celebration of hindustani music, we would have Pandit Partha Bose (Sitar), Hemang Mehta (Hindustani Vocal) and Rajkumar Mishra (Tabla) in performance.

Now Enid and her two daughters search for a way to feel rooted in a land where they’re invisible. With one daughter prepping for university happy to lead “a quiet life” and the other doing anything but, what’s a mother to do except call upon the local ‘obeah’ woman for some traditional Caribbean soul healing. Family secrets are soon revealed and tragedy rekindles Enid’s longing for home. Leave Taking is a beautifully observed, moving account of a second generation immigrant family navigating the familial conflicts between generations and cultures. The play was first produced at the Liverpool Playhouse in 1987. Madani Younis (The Royale) directs the contemporary revival of this classic, award-winning play.

Jonny the Fox Comedy Club

Jonny the Fox comedy club is a regular weekly comedy night that runs above the Rutland Arms in Hammersmith. Both professional performers and amateurs, all for FREE! Edinburgh Preview from Henry Paker- Henry started stand-up January 2006, and in 2008, he won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year title and came second in the Laughing Horse new act competition. Henry’s TV appearances include Russell Howard’s Good News, Seann Walsh World and Edinburgh and Beyond. Henry also co writes and stars in Radio 4 sketch show Small Scenes, and has also appeared on Russell Kane’s Whistle Stop Tour, Act your Age and Arthur Smith’s Balham Bash. Henry is one of the most sought after writers in the industry. He has written for shows including Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Stand Up for the Week, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Comic Relief and Seann Walsh World, as well as for Small Scenes and Newsjack. We invite the local community of Hammersmith and Fulham to try the Open Classes for various Indian classical dance and music forms and languages at The Bhavan on Saturday, scheduled for different hours of the day.
