In a year that challenged all our notions of history, identity, authority, community and choice, artistic expression shifted in accordance. A celebration of rich diversity was needed, and these nearly discarded wooden busts were perfect for allowing the poured paints to coat their features. The result emphasises nose and lips, the very features often caricatured by those who would debase others.
I am an Afro-Caribbean self-taught artist, who believes art should be accessible and fun wherever possible. After a career as a DJ, I swapped one stylus for another and developed my own style of calligraphy, called Indiscribe. 2020 has especially seen me branch out from my roots to incorporate painting to my ink, digital imagery and photography portfolio.
