This is a portrait of an LGBT activist who had to flee Brazil following Jair Bolsonaro's rise to power in 2018. The political currency in Brazil has become very right wing and the LGBT community is now under threat. Thousands have 'disappeared'. This portrait was a result of Pinto's fear and vulnerability of living as an out gay man in a country that once worshipped liberal values.
I am figurative artists whose work focuses on the vulnerability of the male figure in a situation that has an underlying narrative. I've recently done a series of figurative compositions of nudes in small boats from an aerial perspective, reflecting the plight of people fleeing poverty and war to Europe.
