This is a transcription of detail from Piero della Francesca’s frescoes in the church of San Francesco, Arezzo. The work is called The Legend of the True Cross and my drawing comes from a panel called The Battle between Heraclius and Chosroes. It is a huge painting of soldiers and war horses, of flags, lances, curious helmets set against a beautiful still blue sky.
I studied fine art at The Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford. Following my degree I trained and worked as a sign writer for many years. More recently I trained as a yoga teacher. Now my days are divided between the studio and teaching yoga. I mostly paint still lives - in oil paint, watercolour and pencil. And occasionally do linocuts.
