‘I’ is the title of my current body of work and is based on my mother. It was taken 30 years ago, then a person that I didn’t know. The work includes a photo of my mother taken when she was 18 years old; when taking the picture my mother was terrified. I am drawn in questioning how culture played a big role in her identity. In my work I combine different prints using mainly fabrics and other materials.
Art is way of presenting your Identity the to the world. According to Henri Matisse, “Creativity takes courage’’. I truly believe in this quote; it takes time and effort to present an art piece. During my years studying, I found myself to understand the meaning of creativity and to create work. At present I am studying my MA in Print at the Royal College of Art. It’s an exciting process for me to develop my work.
